About the authors

Mariam Navaid Ottimofiore

mariam naviad ottifiomore where women connect

Mariam is a Pakistani and Italian expat author, writer, researcher and economist. She was born into expat life, joining her parents on their first global expatriate assignment in 1982 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Her early childhood was spent growing up in Manama, New York City and Karachi. To date, Mariam has lived in ten countries as both a Third Culture Kid (TCK) and an expat adult: Bahrain, the US, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Ghana and Portugal.

40 years and 4 four continents later, her life on the move is messy. A 40-foot container, an expat husband from another corner of the world and three children born in three different countries 3,000 miles apart, have added complexity, challenges and many joys to living a multicultural, multilingual and multi-mobile life. Her debut expat book This Messy Mobile Life: How a MOLA can help globally mobile families create a life by design comprises personal reflection, expert advice and survey research to help global expatriates embrace their transitions and thrive in their international journey. Her second book just launched, which is a fiction novel about three women meeting each other by chance in Portugal which changed their lives for good.
