In the next story meet Ruby Kapoor, a female writer based in Qatar who recently launched her first book ‘Let’s Talk About Life’.

Q: How did u get the idea for your book and what triggered you to start writing it?

Creating ‘Let’s talk about Life ‘ has been a personal journey which happened just as life happens! It all started with my stint as an RJ wherein I hosted a chat show ‘Let’s talk’. My intentions were to get people to talk about feelings and daily struggles without shame or embarrassment or being shy. I wanted people to be free and relaxed and happy. Later when I moved on to writing a weekly column for a newspaper it just seemed a natural organic flow from let’s talk to let’s talk about life!

The feedback I got from radio and the column was positive, cheerful and filled a vacuum missing in most. So encouraged was I that to put it all together in a book / journal format was just the right thing to do.

Q: What is your writing process like? How do you go about it?

The appreciation and need which came forth from the articles was so strong that I felt drawn to dig deeper and share insights, remind people of all that is positive around us. The world we live in is so noisy challenging and negative, I truly felt that if I could offer a beacon of hope and practical tips to as many, then I have served some purpose in my life of giving back. Let’s talk about life is my way of contributing to a must have global conversation on well being and being self sufficiently happy. The process was as organic and fluid as the journey so far had been. I just went with the flow with warmth and much love…a winning method!

Q: What were your biggest challenges on your writing journey and how did you overcome it?

Since I’m an accidental author … and the subject, the idea of a book just came to me. I was filled with self doubt of whether I had taken on more than I can chew. Wanting every word to be just perfect, staying inspired and motivated to get it off the drawing board was a constant nag but I plodded along, knowing deeply that I over worry and over think and I must let it go to enjoy the process. Finally I surrendered to the universe and allowed Let’s talk about Life to build a life of its own …and its destination.

Q: Who were your biggest cheerleaders from start to finish?

Whenever a project is undertaken small or big, support from any and every quarter is welcome. My family of us 4, friends, angels in every form and manner lifted me over every hiccup and puddle with solutions and answers.

Q: How did you choose your editor, publisher? Connections or online?

Predominantly me, I was all and all in charge of Let’s talk about Life.
Went with my gut, trusted my instincts very novice like. Fortunately it all panned out well. But for book no 2, I am determined to take a more professional approach in the publishing arena.

Q: what advice do you have for aspiring writers?

For writers , artists don’t worry about perfection, just follow your heart and allow it to flow. Let it take a natural organic path of its own making and watch the magic unfold … it will take form and shape, size and colour, persistance and perseverance is the key to being truly authentic towards your baby. So go on produce happily!
